Plastic Fisherman is an artivism project started in 2020 by Rodrigo Butori, a creative professional and sea lover living in Surfside, FL. He calls attention to the danger of marine plastic pollution by turning the plastic trash he cleans from the beach into fish and inviting others on Instagram to do the same in what he named 'plastic fishing. Leveraging social media's instant gratification and an 'act local, think global' mindset, the #plasticfishing movement has turned people around the world into advocates of a cleaner, healthier future for our seas.
